  17.      There has been a rash of reports about child abuse in the press lately,
  18. to many in fact, as the size of this new threat to the health and welfare of
  19. our children grows ever larger.  Its a complicated and difficult problem, and
  20. each case needs the special attention of experienced counselors and advisors.
  21. But help may be difficult to obtain if you do not know where to turn when the
  22. need for help becomes critical.  Here are two invaluable Hotline numbers to
  23. help you.  The Parents Anonymous Hotline--800-421-0353 (800-352-0386 in
  24. California) is available 24 hours a day and provides information for parents
  25. involved in child abuse, and referrals to self help groups in your area.  The
  26. National Child Abuse Hotline--800-422-4453, a privately funded service
  27. provides crisis assistance, also 24 hours a day, as well as referrals to local
  28. social service groups offering counseling.
